«Social Stratification through Health»

Health in many situations is used as a constantly determined personal status. As such, researchers have suggested that as individuals’ health changes constantly depending on our other social statuses. Considering health as solely dependent ignores the importance of health in determining our selection into such social states, and our experiences within them. In particular, health has the possibility of choosing such varied life course events as marriage, educational attainment, occupational and income statuses. Healthcare and health insurance has been created in the large part to help us deal with possibilities of job loss and income loss due to health problems.
